Follow these simple rules and your flowers will last. Like everything, treat them well and they will bloom for ages.
Carefully remove all the packaging.
If you want to keep the shape of your bouquet, do not cut off the string that ties it. If you prefer to arrange your flowers yourself, then remove the string.
Using a sharp clean blade or knife, cut approximately 3cm off the stem at a 45 degree angle.
Fill the vase with water and add the flower food. This does work.
Remove any leaves or fronds that fall below the water level, as these will contaminate the water and shorten the life of your flowers.
Place the bouquet in a clean vase so that the stems reach at least halfway down.
Place the bouquet in a cool position, away from draughts, direct sunlight, heating or cooling appliances or vents.
Add fresh water daily.
Do not allow the oasis to completely dry out or become waterlogged.
Check the water level each day and top up with water if required.
To prevent water damage, always place arrangements on non-porous surfaces. Even better, use a protective mat.
NB. Always place flowers in a cool position, away from any draughts, direct sunlight, heating or cooling vents and appliances.
Lily pollen will stain. In case of contact, dab off with sellotape. Do not use water. Berries will also stain and must not be eaten.
